Fish Monitoring:

The California Department of Fish and Game monitors the fish populations in various rivers as they are represented by "Catch Statistics." Their data for the South Fork Kings are available for viewing here: http://www.dfg.ca.gov/fishing/html/WildTrout/waters/statistics/sfkngsta.htm.

Their charts show the catch rates of Rainbow and Brown Trout combined per hour for samples taken in 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, and 1997. Their data for 1997 show it was the best year since 1992 for catch rate and mean trout per angler. They also show that 90% of the fish caught (and included in their samples) were less than 10 inches long and only 10% were greater than 10 inches long, with very few that were greater or equal to 14 inches.
