2011 River Cleanup Schedule
July 9, 2011, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 Noon
Meet at the area just north (left when facing it) of the Cedar Grove Store, Cedar Grove/Kings Canyon, CA.
Our next cleanup will be Saturday, September 10th
River Cleanup Objectives:
- Please help us celebrate Spring, Summer and Fall by cleaning up over 16 miles of river bank (from Boyden Cavern to Roads End where accessible) so that the river will be healthier and more visually pleasing. We select our clean-up dates to follow heavy use holiday weekends.
- Inform participants on how we can all be better river stewards by practicing good habits that protect river water quality and habitat for the wild creatures that use the river and riparian corridors.
- Assess the appearance of the river using visual "snapshot" assessments. Bring your cameras to help us "monitor" the appearance of the river - and bring your fishing equipment too!
Watershed Benefits:
- Besides the direct benefit of a cleaner river, the South Fork Kings River Cleanup Days provide opportunities for reminding everyone of the value of protecting their water resources.
- By working in partnership with other organizations, local, state and federal agencies, and local businesses we can promote public awareness of the important role the South Fork Kings River plays in our lives.
We spend 2 nights/3 days camping, fishing, cleaning, and enjoying the area!

Pictures - South Fork Kings Third Annual Fall River Cleanup Day!
Some pictures from one of our past river cleanup days...
Another successful river cleanup! Cleaning up the South Fork Kings, river stewardship education and river assessment objectives were all enjoyably incorporated into this event. Scroll down for some pictures, including our "Diaper Disposal" poster!

| Little Bear visiting Three Mile Pool - a rare event, as this was the bear that was hit on Highway 180 near Grizzly Falls
|
 |
| Although our turnout was small, it was an active group of NPS staff and South Fork Kings Friends who participated in this clean up. Here's evidence of their hard work - thanks to all our cleanup volunteers!

 |
| Low Fall flows at cleanup time - the gage on the bridge reads 2.6 feet!

 |
| Fall Cleanup view of the Old Swimming Hole, also showing the low water this time of year.

Our newest sponsor and "trout-fishingholic" Doug Masterson (shown here) returned to the Canyon to help with the clean up and made some fine contributions!
